The beginning

It all started when a friend of my brother left his Chappy at our house because it no longer worked. My father, who has always been passionate about mechanics, saw a great opportunity: to teach me how to ride a two-wheeler while also introducing me to mechanics. That famous blue 13F Chappy became my training ground.

At the age of 10, I took my first rides on it and took apart my first parts with my father. That was the day I fell in love with this model. To me, there is no better machine in the world.

Like many teenagers, I wanted to earn a little money during the summer. But instead of taking a typical summer job, I had a very clear goal: to buy the Chappy of my dreams.

At the age of 12, during the Angoulême Motor Racing Grand Prix, I found my first wrecked Chappy: a Model 550 reduced to just two wheels, a frame and an engine. With my father's help at the beginning, I spent six months rebuilding it, struggling to find every single part I needed.

Very quickly, it became a ritual: every summer, I restored between two and three Chappys, which I would then sell at the end of the season. Over the years, I had the opportunity to work on the vast majority of the models that were produced.

Today, I have restored around 50 Chappys, and I have kept two that I will never sell:

• a 13F with only 6,000 km, completely original and still with all its original documents,
• and a Chappy 80 1F3, also completely original and never restored.

At 16, I met my partner. Two-wheelers were not allowed at her home. But the day I introduced her parents to the Chappy, everything changed. She was able to ride one with me, and it quickly became a shared passion.

Since then, we have put all our energy into bringing wrecked Chappys back to life and sharing this passion with other enthusiasts.

The Birth of Chappy Astonvintage

After more than 20 years of searching for parts, restoring rare models and exchanging with fellow enthusiasts, Chappy Astonvintage was born.

Our mission is simple: to make it possible for everyone to restore their Yamaha Chappy without the hassle.

We offer:

• New genuine parts,
• Reproduction parts made as close to the original as possible,
• and used parts that are no longer available new.

Every part is carefully selected to give these legendary little motorcycles a second life.

This little motorcycle is an absolute joy to ride and collect.

Over the years, we have built a strong international network. We have bought and recovered Chappys from all over the world. This network now allows us to find rare parts and help enthusiasts wherever they are.
